I think that many RZ fans out there have built their own RZ-toys over the years ... here are mine:
The idea for these lamps with paper on a framework of thin wire originates from a japanese designer. I took some watercolor and black ink to paint the eyeball on it. I've done this in the early 1990s, it "survived" moving 3 times since then without any noticeable damage.
I took a pair of black wool gloves, some ping-pong balls, watercolor and (a spray can of) clear coat to make these in the early 1990s. After painting the eyebalss with watercolor, i sprayed a thin layer of clear coat onto the balls, which protected the colors perfectly ever since. One of the gloves had all eyeballs in blue, the other one all in green. Sadly, i lost the blue eyeball-glove at a Icky Flix Show ... at least i hope that a true RZ fan finally found and saved it.
Originally made as an add-on for my eyeball-costume, it was great fun to approach other people (especially the girls) from behind and "stare" them into the face with the gloves only ... :-) It's also cool to stand within a crowd, raise one hand and wave it around as for getting an overview of the scenery.
That's the classical eyeball from the "Official Product" logo, printed out twice and each one glued onto black cardbaord. Cut out and fixed on a old pair of sunglasses with black silicone. As you can guess by the reflection on the right eyeball, looking through the irides is not a problem. I've done this in January 2009.
I just discovered the great Open Source Software blender for me ... no question, the first object to build was an Cube-E Eyeball!
Of course this is not all ... i'm going to build a 3D Cube-E Skull next and then i'll create a little animated video ... which i still have no idea for. What story will the short film tell, what'll be going on? If you have any ideas, please let me know!
